Job summary

Expedia Group’s Layla Team is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to build Layla’s web experiences, turning an AI-native travel assistant into fast, intuitive interfaces for travelers. You’ll collaborate with Product, Design, and backend engineers to ship end-to-end features that scale, while leveraging AI-driven capabilities responsibly.

The role emphasizes a surface-level ownership mindset, startup pace, and data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• 8 years of experience developing production-quality code in a professional software engineering role.
• Deep frontend/web development expertise, including JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS, and experience building reusable, component-based user interfaces.
• Solid grounding in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
• Demonstrated ability to build fast, scalable, and reliable web applications with maintainable frontend architecture.
• Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products.

Responsibilities

• Build reusable, component-based web interfaces with modern frontend frameworks (React / Next.js).
• Translate product concepts and designs into high-quality, maintainable code with Product, Design, and backend teams.
• Develop performant, scalable web apps with cross-browser compatibility and optimized performance.
• Run experiments and iterate using data to guide UI and interaction decisions.
• Safely integrate AI/ML-enabled capabilities into the web experience with responsible use.
• Advocate for engineering excellence, usability, accessibility, and reusable frontend patterns.
• Mentor other engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and knowledge sharing.
