Job summary

Expedia Group is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer for Layla within the Product organization in Austin to build Layla’s AI-native travel planning interfaces. You will craft fast, accessible web experiences, turning conversations into complete itineraries using React/Next.js.

Collaborate with product and backend teams, ship features end-to-end, and advocate for performance, accessibility, and scalable frontend architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• 8 years of experience developing production-quality code in a professional software engineering role.
• Deep frontend/web development expertise with JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS, and experience building reusable, component-based interfaces.
• Strong grounding in computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, OO programming.
• Proven ability to build fast, scalable, reliable web apps with maintainable frontend architecture.
• Familiarity with AI-driven systems and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products, with safe integration into web features.

Responsibilities

• Build reusable, component-based web interfaces with React/Next.js.
• Translate product concepts and wireframes into high-quality code with Product, Design, and backend teams.
• Develop performant, scalable web apps with cross-browser compatibility and optimized performance.
• Run experiments and iterate on the traveler experience using data-informed decisions.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities safely into the web experience, including personalization and recommendations.
• Advocate for engineering excellence, usability, accessibility, and frontend architecture decisions.
• Mentor other engineers through code review, design feedback, and knowledge sharing.
