YO AI Labs seeks a Senior FreeCAD Engineer for a remote, contract-based role. You will create, modify, and validate detailed FreeCAD models to meet project requirements and develop mechanical assemblies with strong GD&T and DFM application. Strong documentation and QA review experience are essential.

The position emphasizes Python scripting for automation and collaboration across remote teams to ensure design intent and manufacturability are met.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, product design, or related field with focus on parametric CAD modeling.
• Advanced proficiency in FreeCAD or equivalent parametric CAD platforms.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals, including GD&T and DFM best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to produce comprehensive technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
• Experience conducting engineering QA and verifying model integrity and compliance with specifications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for remote, project-based collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and validate detailed parametric CAD models in FreeCAD per project requirements.
• Develop and optimize mechanical assemblies and integrate components.
• Apply GD&T and DFM principles to ensure manufacturability and quality.
• Generate precise technical drawings and documentation for review and downstream processes.
• Conduct engineering QA reviews of CAD models and drawings to identify and resolve issues.
• Utilize Python scripting for CAD automation tasks (highly preferred).
• Collaborate by providing feedback on model accuracy, design intent, and process improvements.
