Job summary

YO AI Labs is seeking a Senior FreeCAD Engineer for a remote contract role. You will create, modify, and validate parametric CAD models in FreeCAD aligned with project requirements, and you will optimize mechanical assemblies while applying GD&T and DFM principles.

Responsibilities include generating detailed drawings and documentation, performing QA reviews, and leveraging Python scripting for automation. Strong communication and remote collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, product design, or related field with a focus on parametric CAD modeling.
• Advanced proficiency in FreeCAD or equivalent parametric CAD platforms.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals, including GD&T and DFM best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to produce comprehensive technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
• Experience conducting engineering QA and verifying model integrity and compliance with specifications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills relevant to remote, project-based collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and validate detailed parametric CAD models in FreeCAD to project requirements.
• Develop and optimize mechanical assemblies, integrating components effectively.
• Apply GD&T and DFM principles to ensure manufacturability and quality.
• Generate precise technical drawings and documentation for engineering review and downstream processes.
• Conduct engineering QA reviews of CAD models and drawings to identify and resolve issues.
• Utilize Python scripting for CAD automation tasks (highly preferred).
• Collaborate by providing feedback on model accuracy, design intent, and process improvements.
