Job summary

Etsy is seeking a leader to scale its fraud and risk operations, translating priorities into a clear roadmap and measurable goals. You will guide a global team of investigators, drive efficiency with outsourced partners, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to build robust detection and response capabilities.

The role reports to the Director of Fraud Operations and requires strategic vision, strong leadership, and the ability to balance risk, cost, and customer experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of operations leadership experience, with 2+ years directly in Risk and Fraud.
• Strong quantitative instincts, with comfort using operational metrics, loss and cost models, to frame trade-offs.
• Familiarity with fraud detection systems, machine learning driven decisioning, or rules and controls platforms.
• Experience working with outsourced or vendor operations.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction for critical fraud verticals, defining success by measurable metrics.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of investigators and senior investigators.
• Own the overall operation, coordinating with partners to meet SLAs, quality standards, and costs.
• Build robust investigative capabilities to identify, mitigate, and prevent fraud at scale.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to develop detection, tooling, and ML roadmaps.
• Handle capacity and cost, including headcount planning, vendor relationships, and automation investments.
• Advise on emerging risks and stand up incident response when needed.
• Turn operational signals into data-backed recommendations for executives.
• Build the operating system for the area with runbooks, metrics, and quality bars.
• Represent Risk & Fraud in cross-functional and executive forums.
