Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Altadena, CA is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in FPGA design to develop flight avionics and motor controllers for robotic missions. You will interface with electrical, mechanical, test, systems, and software teams throughout the product lifecycle from conception to flight-ready hardware.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years developing and testing complex hardware across the product lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog or Verilog for RTL implementation.
  • Experience with SoC integration and interface design.
  • Understanding of digital timing and synchronization concepts.
  • Knowledge of standard bus protocols (AXI, AHB).
  • Familiarity with synthesis tools and RTL-to-gates methodology.
  • Experience with simulation and debugging of complex digital systems.
  • Strong FPGA background and FPGA tool flow.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a flight FPGA design owner within small teams from design to test and delivery.
  • Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, test and software teams; mentor junior engineers.
  • Create RTL code for critical SoC blocks and interfaces; implement digital hardware architectures for embedded robotics.
  • Contribute to architecture optimization for performance, power, and cost.
  • Document design specs and participate in design reviews and verification planning.
  • Define tests at assembly level in avionics labs and environmental/test labs.
