Job summary

Blue Origin in Colorado is seeking an FPGA Design Engineer to own digital design for flight communications and radar systems used on lunar vehicles.

You will translate DSP and RF requirements into RTL for FPGAs, model algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink, and collaborate with RF, DSP, and hardware teams to bring designs to flight. The role emphasizes end-to-end system design, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and rigorous qualification in a safety-conscious culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years FPGA design or DSP experience.
• Experience with DSP algorithms for radar or sensors.
• Proficient with IEEE 802.3, XAUI, PCIe, JESD204B/C, I2C, SPI interfaces.
• RTL coding with Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL.

Responsibilities

• Design and simulate end-to-end systems to meet performance specs (range, SNR).
• Design and validate DSP algorithms for detection, tracking, calibration, estimation.
• Support MATLAB/Simulink code generation for signal processing.
• Analyze computational complexity and hardware resource needs.
• Optimize FPGA DSP architectures to maximize SNR/Clutter Ratio.
• Select devices: FPGA, ADC/DAC, DDR memory, NOR flash.
• Support HW bring-up and design verification with RF engineers.
• RTL implementation and FPGA prototyping.
• Perform hardware-in-the-loop and RF testing.
• Participate in design reviews and qualification processes.
