Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer in the Greater Seattle area to develop firmware for FPGA-based avionics in spaceflight hardware, ensuring safety and reliability in harsh environments. You will generate FPGA requirements with systems, hardware, and software teams; write HDL code, verify complex modules, and participate in design reviews, with about 10% travel.

Qualifications include 8+ years FPGA/ASIC design and verification, RTL in Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL, experience with Xilinx

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or related fields.
  • 8+ years FPGA/ASIC design and verification experience.
  • Proficient RTL coding with Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL; strong timing Closure and CDC concepts.
  • Experience with FPGA tools: Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, Lattice Diamond/Radiant, Microchip Libero.
  • ModelSim/QuestaSim for simulation; UVM/OVM, SV assertions, and coverage analysis.
  • Strong debugging of simulation and hardware failures; teamwork and communication skills.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S. (citizenship/residency required).
  • Desired: 10+ years, scripting (Perl/Python/Tcl), Git/SVN, AMBA, PCIe, 802.3, NPR 7150.2/DO-254.

Responsibilities

  • Develop firmware requirements with systems, hardware, software teams and subsystems owners.
  • Generate FPGA requirements documents and verification plans.
  • Design, write HDL code, verify and document complex modules in high radiation environments.
  • Lead design reviews and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Travel ~10% to other Blue Origin locations for meetings and events.
