Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle is seeking an experienced firmware engineer focused on FPGA/ASIC design for harsh space environments. You will develop, verify, and test FPGA-based firmware and collaborate across systems, hardware, and software teams. You’ll participate in design reviews and create tests and documentation for NASA partnerships.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in FPGA/ASIC, HDL proficiency, and strong teamwork. Travel ~10% and a commitment to safe, high-quality spaceflight are required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years FPGA/ASIC design and verification experience.
  • Proficient in writing RTL with Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL.
  • Understanding of FPGA design concepts, CDC, timing closure, and constraints.
  • Proficient with FPGA tools (Vivado/Quartus/Lattice/Libero) and simulators (ModelSim/QuestaSim).
  • Experience writing testbenches using UVM/OVM and SV assertions.
  • Able to debug simulation failures to root cause.
  • Willingness to travel ~10% for meetings and events.
  • Effective team communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop firmware requirements in coordination with systems, hardware, and software teams.
  • Develop FPGA design and verification using HDL and related tooling.
  • Create tests and documentation, and participate in design reviews.
  • Work with NASA and partners on the Human Landing System program.
  • Contribute to Lunar Transportation system development for Moon missions.
