Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to work with federal government clients, delivering end-to-end data, AI, and application solutions on the Databricks platform.

You will own architecture, lead design decisions, and ensure successful delivery across data engineering, AI, and development teams. The role is hands-on, customer-facing, and requires travel to client sites about 20–25% of the time.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Fluency in writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications that combine data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces.
• Experience with technical project delivery, documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience working with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across a broad stakeholder range.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design decisions, ensuring secure, scalable solutions.
• Deliver production-grade systems and reference architectures for data & AI projects.
• Train and support customers to adopt Databricks platforms and accelerators.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to shape delivery priorities.
• Embed with customer teams and manage engagements from technical ICs to executives.
• Create reusable assets and frameworks to scale impact across accounts.
