Job summary

Databricks in Washington, DC area is seeking a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to work with federal government customers on data and AI challenges using the Databricks platform.

You will own architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development. This role requires travel 20-25% to customer locations and emphasizes customer empathy and hands-on delivery.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics or software engineering
• Proficient in Python, Scala, and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience across multiple cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP) with at least one
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark
• Familiar with CI/CD for production deployments
• Understanding of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs
• Experience delivering technical projects and working with enterprise clients

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer projects, design reference architectures, and build data pipelines and ML/AI integrations
• Guide strategic customers in end-to-end design, build and deployment of big data and AI applications
• Mentor customers on architecture and design to enable adoption of Databricks
• Own architecture decisions ensuring secure, scalable solutions
• Deliver technical components with cross-functional teams to meet customer needs
• Collaborate with Engineers and Support to provide product feedback and quick issue resolution
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver impact
• Create accelerators and best practices to scale impact across accounts
