Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to work with federal government customers, leading architecture, design decisions, and end-to-end implementations spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

This role is hands-on, customer-facing, and requires travel to customer locations about 20–25% of the time. You will deliver production-grade solutions, integrate with client systems, and train users to maximize value from Databricks’ data and AI platform.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering
• Fluency in writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark™ and knowledge of Spark runtime internals
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments; Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs; Design and deployment of end-to-end data architectures combining pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces
• Experience with technical project delivery, documentation and white-boarding; experience with enterprise clients and stakeholder management

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer technical projects including reference architectures, data ingestion and ML/AI model integration
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end design, build and deployment of big data and AI applications
• Assist customers on architecture and design, enabling successful adoption of Databricks solutions
• Own architecture decisions to ensure secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices
• Collaborate with engineering, project management and customer teams to deliver technical components
• Provide feedback to product and support teams to improve engagement outcomes
• Embed with customer teams across technical and executive stakeholders to maximize impact
• Create accelerators and best practices to scale impact across accounts and influence the product roadmap
