Job summary

Databricks Inc. in the United States is hiring a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to work with federal government customers, owning architecture and leading end-to-end data, AI, and application delivery using the Databricks platform.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires engineering excellence, adaptability, and strong collaboration across engineering, product, and customer teams. The role is hybrid with 20–25% travel to customer sites.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering
• Fluency in writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks
• Working knowledge of two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals
• CI/CD for production deployments; experience with MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs
• Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications that combine data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces
• Experience with technical project delivery, documentation and white-boarding; experience with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade data and AI projects delivering reference architectures and custom applications
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end design, build and deployment of big data and AI solutions
• Own architecture decisions, ensuring secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices
• Deliver technical components with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements
• Collaborate with engineers and support to provide product feedback and quick issue resolution
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and drive measurable impact
• Create accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that scale across accounts
