Job summary

Databricks seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to work with customers on data and AI solutions atop the Databricks platform. You will own the architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires engineering excellence, adaptability, and strong collaboration with engineering, product, and developer relations teams to deliver measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Working knowledge of two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of production end-to-end data architectures and applications.
• Experience with technical project delivery and stakeholder management.
• Strong documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Travel to customers ~20% and Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead production solution delivery by designing reference architectures and data ingestion pipelines.
• Architect and deliver end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.
• Guide transformational big data projects and scope technical delivery with engagement managers.
• Bootstrap or implement customer projects ensuring measurable outcomes and adoption.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to satisfy engagement needs.
• Provide feedback to product and support to improve deployments and tooling.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver impact.
• Contribute accelerators and best practices that scale across accounts.
