Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work with customers to design, build, and productionize data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You own the architecture, lead design decisions, and deliver end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development with customer empathy.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires engineering excellence, curiosity, and the ability to translate complex concepts into scalable, measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Comfortable writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript; modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Experience delivering technical projects for enterprise clients and managing stakeholder conflicts.
• Travel to customers ~20% of the time.
• Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer projects by delivering reference architectures, custom applications and data ingestion and ML/AI model integration.
• Transformational big data projects: end-to-end design, build and deployment in collaboration with engagement managers.
• Guide customers on architecture and design; bootstrap or implement projects for successful adoption of Databricks.
• Own architecture decisions, ensuring secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, project managers, architects and customer teams to deliver engagement components.
• Provide product and implementation feedback with engineering and support for rapid issue resolution.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver measurable impact.
• Contribute accelerators, frameworks and best practices to scale impact across accounts.
