Job summary

Cobb County Government is seeking a supervisor for the Forensic Investigators at the Medical Examiner’s Office. The role oversees work allocation, resource provisioning, and progress reporting to ensure timely investigations.

The position includes human resources duties, budget support, and coordination with law enforcement and public agencies. Duties cover death investigations, scene processing, evidence handling, and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science, Law Enforcement or related field.
• Three years of death investigations experience.
• Two years of supervisory/managerial experience.
• Must possess and maintain ABMDI-D Diplomate certification.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work for the Forensic Investigators.
• Monitors status of investigations and maintains documentation.
• Assists with development of procedures and training programs.
• Manages HR functions for the Investigative Division, including payroll and personnel actions.
• Assists in budgeting for the division and liaises with external agencies.
• Interacts with citizens and various agencies to support investigations.
• Performs investigative duties including death notification, scene examination, and evidence handling.
• Conducts interviews and prepares detailed case reports and summaries.
• Notifies next of kin and coordinates related services.
• Performs customer service duties and on-call responsibilities.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Forensic Science, Law Enforcement, or related field

Two years supervisory/managerial experience
