Job summary

Fulton County Medical Examiner's Department is seeking a highly qualified forensic pathologist to perform autopsies and determine the cause and manner of death. The role involves determining jurisdiction, certifying deaths, and providing expert testimony in court as needed.

The position requires an MD with anatomic pathology residency and a forensic pathology fellowship, plus active Georgia medical and driver’s licenses.

Qualifications

• MD required with anatomic pathology residency and forensic pathology fellowship.
• Must hold Georgia Medical License and Georgia Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Performs autopsies and external examinations to determine cause and manner of death.
• Determines jurisdiction and appropriate examinations for each case.
• Certifies deaths and completes death certificates.
• Provides court testimony and consultations with medical personnel and law enforcement.
• Teaches pathology residents and fellows; participates in training.
• Maintains knowledge of laws, policies and procedures; participates in quality assurance.
