Job summary

The Mohave County Medical Examiner Office seeks a seasoned leader to manage daily forensic operations, supervise staff, and ensure timely investigations. You will develop policies, coordinate with law enforcement and partner agencies, and oversee budgets and contracts to deliver high-quality, efficient services across Mohave County.

Responsibilities include prioritizing caseloads, preparing reports, maintaining chain of custody, and supervising personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, forensic science, biology, or related field.
• Four (4) years of increasing responsibility as a medicolegal death investigator in a Medical Examiner or Coroner Office.
• Four (4) years supervisory experience.
• Must possess minimum of Registry Diplomate with the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (D-ABMDI)
• OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and implements medical examiner programs according to regulatory requirements.
• Oversees scheduling and prioritization of work; monitors caseloads and turnaround times.
• Selects and evaluates subordinates; establishes schedules.
• Develops division policies for standardized medical examiner activities.
• Interacts with law enforcement, funeral homes, and agencies to expedite disposition of cases.
• Maintains chain of custody of evidence and ensures documentation integrity.
• May provide sworn testimony in deposition or court.
• Develops budgets and participates in contract negotiations for equipment/services.
• Maintains awareness of current medicolegal issues and prepares reports.
