Ramsey County's Medical Examiner's Office is hiring an Investigator to perform investigative work on reported deaths under its jurisdiction. The role includes assisting pathologists in autopsies, handling bodies, maintaining chain of custody, and preparing detailed reports with photographs and sketches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in forensic science, mortuary science, criminal justice or related field.
• One year of investigative and/or medicolegal autopsy experience (or equivalent).
• Valid driver's license for the class of vehicles to be driven.

Responsabilités

• Investigate death scenes by inspecting and photographing bodies and surrounding area; collect evidence and statements.
• Remove bodies and transport evidence following chain of custody procedures.
• Analyze body position, wounds, and post-mortem changes for general consistency with history.
• Prepare written reports with photographs and sketches; recommend autopsies when appropriate.
• Conduct follow-up investigations, interviews with physicians, records personnel, witnesses, and survivors; coordinate with relief agencies and cremation authorization.
• Assist forensic pathologists with autopsies and collect tissue, fluids, fingerprints.
