Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Senior FOIA Analyst to join our Information Technology team, supporting a large federal agency. You will process FOIA requests, draft correspondence, and engage in negotiations with requesters and stakeholders to determine release of records.

Ideal candidates have at least three years of FOIA experience, knowledge of exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6), and the ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Knowledge of FOIA rules and exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6).
• Experience redacting records containing trade secrets or confidential information.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and FOIA correspondence.
• Communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors, and contractors.
• Serve as a liaison with requesters and other agencies regarding multi-agency records.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicate records.
• Review program records for responsiveness and offer release determinations.
• Ensure released materials do not contain exempt information.
