Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Flight Software Engineer III to design, develop, test, and deploy embedded flight software for spacecraft supporting national security missions. You will work in a fast-paced, high-consequence environment with a mission-driven team, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance of space assets.

Requirements include a BS in a related field, 5+ years in embedded software, C/C++ expertise, RTOS experience, and an active TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++ programming for embedded/real-time systems.
• Working knowledge of real-time operating systems (Yocto Linux, VxWorks, RTEMS, FreeRTOS).
• Familiarity with communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, TCP/IP.
• Active Top Secret / SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test real-time embedded flight software for spacecraft avionics.
• Collaborate with systems, avionics, GN&C, and test engineers to translate requirements into robust code.
• Participate in all phases of the software lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
• Debug and troubleshoot software in SIL and HIL environments.
• Develop and execute verification plans including unit and integration tests.
• Manage software configuration using Git and contribute to process improvements.
• Support launch operations and mission readiness reviews; mentor junior team members.
