Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Sector seeks a talented Flight Dynamicist to join our team and tackle modeling, trajectory design, and vehicle analyses for missiles, hypersonic vehicles, satellites, and space systems. The candidate will develop 3DOF/6DOF models and perform optimization across the mission envelope.

Responsibilities include designing GNC algorithms, validating simulations, and supporting flight tests while collaborating across disciplines to translate requirements into robust designs.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in flight dynamics and mission design.
• Experience with aerospace modeling tools and software environments.
• Strong understanding of flight mechanics and orbital dynamics.
• Active Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze 3DOF and 6DOF flight dynamics models for vehicle performance.
• Perform trajectory design, optimization, and trade studies for missiles and space systems.
• Design and validate guidance, navigation, and control algorithms.
• Develop high-fidelity simulations to support concept development and test activities.
• Collaborate across aerodynamics, propulsion, and systems engineering teams.
• Support flight test planning, predictions, and data analysis.
