Job summary

Leidos LLC seeks a seasoned Flight Dynamicist to advance modeling, simulation, and design for missiles, hypersonic and space systems. The role spans 3DOF/6DOF analyses, trajectory design, and GNC algorithm development within a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities include high-fidelity simulations, risk analysis, and integration within digital engineering environments. Requires strong math, propulsion, and aerodynamics understanding, with active security clearance.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited aerospace/related engineering degree.
• 8–10 years in flight dynamics/trajectory/mission design.
• Experience with 3DOF/6DOF simulations.
• Strong understanding of flight and orbital mechanics; trajectory optimization.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, STK, GMAT, FORTRAN, C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze 3DOF/6DOF flight dynamics models.
• Perform trajectory design and optimization for hypersonic/missile/space systems.
• Design and validate GNC algorithms including autopilot logic.
• Develop high-fidelity simulations and digital engineering models.
• Conduct aerodynamic, propulsion, mass properties, and environmental analyses.
• Conduct flight mechanics analyses including stability, separation, and orbital operations.
• Integrate mission-level models within simulation frameworks and test architectures.
• Support flight test planning, predictions, and post-flight reconstruction.
• Collaborate across aerodynamics, propulsion, thermal, systems, software teams.
• Support proposals and customer engagements; present results.
