Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Flight Dynamicist to join the Defense Systems Advanced Development Organization. You will develop and analyze flight dynamics models for missiles, hypersonic vehicles, and space systems, designing guidance and control algorithms and supporting mission planning and testing.

Join a multidisciplinary team to perform trajectory design, optimization, and validation across full flight envelopes, supporting proposals, briefings, and technically challenging programs.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited aerospace/related degree with relevant experience.
• 4+ years in flight dynamics, trajectory design, or mission design.
• Experience building 3DOF/6DOF vehicle models and simulations.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and C/C++.
• Active security clearance with ability to obtain TS.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze 3DOF/6DOF flight dynamics models for performance and stability.
• Design trajectory optimization and mission design for missiles and space systems.
• Implement guidance, navigation and control algorithms and autopilot logic.
• Create high-fidelity simulations and digital engineering models for development and testing.
• Collaborate across aero, propulsion, and software teams to meet requirements.
• Support proposals, briefings, and technical reviews with results and recommendations.
