Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a highly skilled Flight Dynamicist to join our team and advance modeling, simulation, and design for missiles, hypersonic vehicles, satellites, and space systems. You will develop 3DOF/6DOF flight dynamics models, perform trajectory design and optimization, and implement GNC algorithms across a full flight envelope.

Qualificações

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• 8–10 years in flight dynamics or related aerospace fields.
• Experience developing 3DOF/6DOF vehicle simulations.
• Strong grounding in flight/orbital mechanics and trajectory optimization.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, STK, GMAT, FORTRAN, or C/C++.
• Ability to translate analyses into system design guidance.
• Active Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain).

Responsabilidades

• Develop and analyze 3DOF and 6DOF flight dynamics models across flight envelopes.
• Perform trajectory design, optimization, and trade studies for hypersonic and space systems.
• Design, implement, and validate GNC algorithms including autopilot logic and terminal guidance.
• Develop high-fidelity simulations to support concept design and verification.
• Conduct aerodynamic and propulsion analyses to identify design drivers and risks.
• Perform flight mechanics analyses including stability and control, staging, and orbital operations.
• Integrate mission-level models within modeling/simulation frameworks and test architectures.
• Support flight test planning, predictions, and data analysis to validate models.
• Collaborate with aerodynamics, propulsion, thermal, systems, software, and mission analysis teams.
• Contribute to proposals, customer engagements, and strategic growth in aerospace domains.
• Present results and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
