Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Sector is seeking a talented Flight Dynamicist to join our team to create and analyze 3DOF and 6DOF flight dynamics models, perform trajectory design and optimization for hypersonic vehicles, missiles, launch vehicles, and space systems. You will develop high-fidelity simulations and validate GNC algorithms across a multi-disciplinary team.

The role requires a Bachelors (ABET-accredited) in aerospace/related field with 4+ years of experience, strong flight mechanics

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in aerospace or related field.
• Experience with 3DOF/6DOF vehicle simulations.
• Experience with trajectory optimization and mission design.
• Strong understanding of flight mechanics and orbital mechanics.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, STK, GMAT, FORTRAN, C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze 3DOF and 6DOF flight dynamics models across full flight envelope.
• Perform trajectory design and optimization for missiles, launch vehicles, and space systems.
• Design and validate GNC algorithms including autopilot and terminal guidance functions.
• Develop high-fidelity simulations to support concept development and testing.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate requirements into vehicle designs.
