Job summary

Sysco is hiring a Fleet Technician to perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of vehicles and equipment. You will conduct annual FAI/CVI inspections and mentor junior technicians while supporting safety, reliability, and cost efficiency across the fleet.

Qualified candidates have 4–5 years in fleet maintenance, heavy/medium duty tech training, and knowledge of refrigeration systems, DOT regulations, and diagnostic tools. CDL preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Education: heavy/medium truck tech training (2-year program).
• Experience: 4–5 years in fleet maintenance and repair.
• License: CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles.
• Carry out FAI/CVI inspections annually on all fleet equipment.
• Perform quality maintenance inspections on tractors, trailers, and reefer units.
• Perform repairs to maximize safety and reliability across fleet systems.
• Preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of refrigeration units and lift gates.
• Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups promptly.
• Mentor Fleet Technicians I & II to develop in role.
• May assume moderate supervisory duties when managers unavailable.

Skills

Fleet maintenance experience

CDL preferred

Inspection certification

Brake inspector certification

ASE certification (preferred)

EPA 608/609 refrigerant certification

DOT/FMCSA regulations knowledge

OSHA safety regulations knowledge

Electrical systems diagnosis
