Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician to provide timely repairs and preventive maintenance for tractors, trailers, forklifts and related equipment. The role requires extensive diagnostics, safe operation adjustments and accurate documentation.

Qualified applicants typically have a high school diploma, 5+ years of experience, ASE certifications and CDL may be preferred. Proficiency with maintenance software, diagnostic tools and safety standards is essential for success.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of five years experience performing vehicle maintenance.
  • A heavy-duty vehicle maintenance certificate may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Master ASE certification may substitute two more years of experience.
  • Competency in brakes, electrical, PMI, powertrain, and trailing equipment required.
  • Master ASE certification and Class A CDL preferred.
  • Proficient with maintenance software and diagnostic systems.
  • Knowledge of gas/diesel engines and on-board computers.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools and lifting devices.
  • Must be able to lift ~110 pounds with assistance/equipment.
  • Must have necessary tools for tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required.
  • Ability to operate manual or automatic transmissions.
  • Paint and body work experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, modify and perform preventive maintenance inspections on vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs or replacements of components and systems.
  • Make adjustments for safe and efficient operation and complete safety documentation.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced technicians.
  • Document all maintenance in writing and electronically.
  • Conduct safety inspections and document findings.
  • Perform paint and body work as required.
  • Comply with laws, regulations and company procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
