Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Manager II, Operations to oversee one or more sites/fleets, driving performance, safety, and profitability. The role requires strategic leadership across operations, scheduling flexibility, and strong communication with customers and internal teams.

The position emphasizes budgetary oversight, process improvements, and cross-functional coordination to optimize fleet coverage, driver retention, and service levels within the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher with supervisory experience
• Valid driver's license with clean MVR
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights/weekends
• Willing to travel to account/customer/company events as applicable
• Experience managing operations, safety, and DOT compliance

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a positive work environment to improve operational efficiency and driver retention
• Forecast freight volumes and power/equipment needs; ensure coverage
• Train on and audit processes; implement improvements
• Communicate with customers and internal teams to resolve issues daily
• Oversee fleet operations: driver board, customer service, safety, compliance, retention
• Manage financial performance: cost control, profitability, data analysis for reviews
• Compile reports on operational/financial/service metrics and monitor KPIs
• Ensure fleet safety training and address safety needs for fleets/drivers
• Develop and progress employees via evaluations and development plans
• Serve as escalation point for customers/ramp and ensure service quality
• Assist in annual budget creation and variance analysis
• Support company bonus/incentive plans as applicable
