Job summary

Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 seeks a Fleet Manager - Mechanic to lead the district's transportation fleet maintenance and scheduling. The role ensures safe, reliable operations of school buses and support vehicles, and oversees maintenance activities and staff.

The position requires supervisory experience in transportation, strong administration, and the ability to coordinate a busy fleet with on-call responsibilities and budgeting input.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Three years minimum supervisory experience in transportation is highly desired.
• Three+ years' experience in transportation including driving, training, vehicle maintenance and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance and repair of district transportation assets to ensure safe, reliable service.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, CDE and District 8 regulations and maintain documentation of maintenance.
• Supervise fleet maintenance personnel and schedule shifts, respond to road calls and provide on-call support.
• Coordinate dispatch to optimize use of transportation assets and resolve safety concerns.
• Maintain reports and documentation for evaluation of fleet maintenance effectiveness.
• Provide training for equipment operators and mechanics; ensure cross-training.
