Job summary

Recology in San Francisco seeks an Equipment Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations, lead shop personnel, and manage safety, audits, and replacement planning. You will coordinate procurement, budgets, and vendor contracts while ensuring regulatory compliance across fleets and facilities.

The role requires strong supervisory experience, a CDL, and extensive knowledge of DOT and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Valid Class A CDL with no air brake or automatic transmission restrictions within 6 months of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Eight years related industry experience, including four years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing maintenance operations and safety.
  • Experience administering fleet and equipment preventative maintenance programs.
  • Familiarity with Federal D.O.T. Out-of-Service Criteria and DOT compliance audits.
  • Experience with inventory control processes.
  • Fabrication skills preferred.
  • Ability to perform routine calculations and write reports and correspondence.
  • Experience managing union personnel preferred.
  • Knowledge of employee training, supervision and evaluation.
  • Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance operations and direct shop personnel across shifts.
  • Authorize procurement of parts, tools, and machinery.
  • Contract services not performed in-house.
  • Consult with VP of Fleet on vehicle and equipment replacement needs.
  • Participate in the maintenance budget process.
  • Administer inspections and audits for safety, efficiency and compliance.
  • Identify safety hazards and ensure personnel safety.
  • Investigate and evaluate causes and financial impacts of equipment damage.
  • Driving a company vehicle may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
