Job summary

GreenWaste in the San Jose area seeks an Area Fleet Maintenance Manager responsible for strategic oversight, maintenance, lifecycle management, and readiness of a large fleet of diesel and CNG refuse vehicles and heavy construction equipment. You will drive uptime, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency across sites.

The ideal candidate demonstrates deep technical expertise, hands-on diagnostic skills, and proven leadership in multi-site fleets within the waste or heavy industrial sectors;

Qualifications

• 7+ years in fleet or industrial asset management.
• Experience with diesel and CNG refuse trucks and heavy equipment.
• Leadership of multi-site maintenance teams.
• Knowledge of DOT/OSHA/EPA/CARB regulations.
• CMMS proficiency and fleet telematics experience.
• Budgeting and vendor management skills.
• ASE/ EVT or OEM certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee fleet and equipment across multiple sites, ensuring preventive and corrective maintenance programs are followed.
• Direct maintenance of CNG systems per NFPA 52 and regulations, coordinating with fueling stations.
• Lead recruitment, coaching, and development of shop personnel; foster safety and continuous improvement.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety policies; manage hazardous materials handling.
• Develop and manage annual maintenance budgets; evaluate vendors and contracts to control costs.
• Promote data-driven maintenance decisions through CMMS and process improvements across shops.
• Collaborate with operations leadership on vehicle commissioning and disposal processes.
