dfwHR is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer in the Garland, TX area for a hybrid/in-office role. You will modernize an existing embedded firmware platform, work with C/C++, and integrate hardware with firmware across multiple configurations. The position offers high ownership and collaboration with hardware and software teams.

The role emphasizes OTA updates, real-time OSs, and wireless connectivity, with opportunities to apply AI tools to firmware development and improve overall architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on embedded firmware development.

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization and rearchitecture of embedded firmware platform.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++.
• Improve firmware modularity, scalability, maintainability, and architecture.
• Develop hardware abstraction layers for multiple configurations.
• Implement OTA firmware update capabilities.
• Work with RTOS like FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Support WiFi, Bluetooth LE, and cellular connectivity.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate firmware with components.
• Read schematics and datasheets; troubleshoot firmware interactions.
• Hands-on debugging with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools for firmware code.
• Participate in code reviews and engineering planning.
• Collaborate across software, hardware, product, and quality teams.
• Contribute to engineering standards and documentation.
