Job summary

American Innovations in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Manager for Firmware and Hardware Engineering to lead a small, senior team building rugged embedded systems. You will unify firmware, electronics, and mechanical disciplines, setting architecture, standards, and validation strategies while coaching the team from concept through field performance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years developing shipped embedded products with deep firmware expertise (C/C++ on microcontrollers, RTOS or bare-metal)
• 2+ years leading engineers as a people manager or technical lead of a small hardware/firmware team
• Electronics literacy to lead schematic/board bring-up and power trade-offs
• Demonstrated daily use of AI tools in engineering or engineering-management work with measurable impact

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across firmware, electronics, and mechanical engineering for an integrated customer-facing system
• Champion an AI-first design framework across hardware, firmware, and mechanical work
• Set and uphold firmware architecture, coding practice, and field-release hygiene while guiding system-level decisions
• Oversee resource allocation, budgets, and cross-discipline collaboration across firmware, electronics, and mechanical programs
