The Oil, Gas & Chemical practice at Burns & McDonnell seeks an experienced Fire Protection Engineer for our Kansas City, MO office. As a Senior Fire Protection Engineer, you will lead design projects and prepare comprehensive fire protection packages across various project types and clients.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading design, specification, procurement, and coordination of fire protection systems: wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, deluge, foam/water suppression systems, fire water infrastructure, exterior suppression systems, and fire alarm systems.
• Reviewing fire protection calculations, hydraulic analyses, and other technical assessments.
• Evaluating facilities to determine fire protection requirements and specifications.
• Managing project cost estimates, bid packages, and construction administration services.
• Preparing technical reports and developing client relationships to foster new business opportunities.
• Managing sales, marketing efforts, and project proposals.
• Providing leadership and guidance within the fire protection practice, ensuring QA/QC adherence and safety compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program. A Master’s degree may substitute for experience.
• Minimum 7 years of fire protection engineering experience; PE license preferred.
• Expert knowledge of building codes, NFPA standards, and industrial guidelines.
• Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
• NICET certifications in relevant systems are preferred.

This position involves 25% travel and is open until filled, with a minimum posting duration of 72 hours.
