This global food, scent and ingredient company seeks a Project Manager for their Kansas City area 130 + contractors person plant.

EXPERIENCE: BS Chemical, Mechanical or Related Engineering degree with 5-20 years of experience ideally from the Food, Grain or Chemical Industries where material handling is done. Distillation is a desired skill. This candidate should have completed a number of capital projects of $1mm+ in size, both process related and facility related projects. Someone who has managed contracts and contractors. Other desired skill sets would be Process Safety (PSM), Environmental, and Lean Manufacturing.

This site has $20mm of projects on the books for this year and $60mm for next year. It is open due to growth.

Job Summary

The Project Manager is the single point of accountability for the end-to-end execution of assigned Capital projects in the range of $1M to $5M and may execute projects up to $10M. Working with leadership, technology, maintenance, operations, engineering, safety and quality, the Project Manager is accountable to the site for capital projects implementation, status reporting and optimal utilization of site team/external engineering in compliance with site and corporate work processes.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Develop Project Objectives: Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and align on project goals.
2. Execution Strategy: Coordinate with engineering managers to create and prioritize project execution plans.
3. Economic Model: Work with finance to develop economic justifications for the project.
4. Team Leadership: Ensure clear roles, reasonable workloads, and effective communication within the team.
5. Stakeholder Engagement: Regularly update and align with the project steering team and functional leaders.
6. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all EHS and Process Safety Management requirements are met.
7. Procurement and Contracting: Engage early with sourcing to align on procurement strategies and use preferred vendors.
8. Construction Management: Oversee safe execution of construction activities and ensure readiness for commissioning and start-up.
9. Cost and Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project schedules and cost estimates, and manage changes.
10. Continuous Improvement: Pursue continuous improvement in safety and project execution.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Process / Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Bio-Tech, Food Technology Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in end-to-end capital project management and implementing projects in active operating/production areas (food/pharma industry preferred)
• Construction Safety Rules & Regulations (OSHA 510 or equivalent)
• Project Manager Professional (PMP) Certification is a plus
