Job summary

HED is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer in San Francisco to advance fire protection design knowledge with minimal supervision. You will own portions of project design, calculations, code research, QAQC, and cross-discipline coordination.

The role emphasizes developing technical leadership, client interaction, and mentoring junior staff while contributing to project delivery from concept through construction. A hybrid work model is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• P.E. licensure required.
• 5+ years in the AEC industry preferred.
• Experience with Revit and documentation standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection design tasks with minimal supervision across design phases.
• Perform calculations, equipment sizing, and code compliance checks.
• Prepare system descriptions, narratives, and equipment schedules.
• Develop and review fire protection layouts in Revit with coordination across disciplines.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams to resolve design conflicts.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, and field verification during construction.
