Job summary

HED is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Engineer to lead portions of project design, documentation, and coordination from concept through construction. This role emphasizes independent ownership, technical contribution, and early mentoring of junior staff.

The ideal candidate will execute calculations, code research, QAQC, and cross-disciplinary coordination while developing leadership skills for future project management roles. A hybrid work model supports collaboration and autonomy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
• 5+ years in the AEC industry
• Experience with Revit and BIM workflows
• Strong written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Lead design development and calculations for fire protection systems across project phases
• Perform fire protection design tasks including calculations and code checks
• Prepare technical documentation and equipment schedules
• Develop fire protection layouts in Revit with architectural/structural coordination
• Coordinate with internal/external teams to resolve design conflicts
• Review RFIs and submittals with support from lead engineers
• Perform field verification and participate in construction observation
