Job summary

TERPconsulting in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a senior fire protection consultant/engineer for a full-time hybrid role. You will review designs for fire, life safety, and accessibility compliance, prepare technical reports, and coordinate with architects, engineers, owners, and AHJs to ensure code-compliant solutions.

Responsibilities include site visits, design and construction meetings, submittal reviews, inspections, testing, and commissioning of fire protection systems, plus mentoring junior

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in fire protection engineering, including fire dynamics, life safety systems, and fire risk assessment.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., IBC, IFC, NFPA codes and standards) and their practical application to building design.
• Experience in code consulting for new construction and renovation projects, including performance-based design and alternative means and methods.

Responsibilities

• Review building designs for compliance with fire, life safety, and accessibility codes and standards.
• Prepare technical reports, code analyses, and design recommendations; coordinate with architects, engineers, owners, and AHJs.
• Support development of fire protection, detection, and suppression strategies; conduct site visits, design meetings, inspections, testing, and commissioning.
