Job summary

Cuhaci & Peterson Architects, Engineers & Planners, Inc in Phoenix seeks an experienced Fire Protection Engineer with a BS in Fire Protection Engineering and 10–15 years of licensed engineering experience. You will serve as Engineer of Record across multiple states, drive design, and coordinate with architects, vendors, and clients.

Responsibilities include creating Construction Documents, ensuring QA, maintaining codes, and mentoring junior staff while managing budgets and client communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Fire Protection Engineering with licensure as Engineer.
• Minimum 10–15 years of professional experience in the field.

Responsibilities

• Implement engineering projects including Construction Documents, coordination with disciplines, permitting, bidding, and construction administration.
• Ensure high quality of construction documents, specifications, and RFI responses.
• Lead projects as Engineer of Record across multiple states where applicable.
• Research and stay updated on latest design practices with vendors and senior engineers.
• Maintain discipline-specific codes and building codes compliance.
• Communicate clearly in writing and speech; educate clients on design requirements.
• Meet with Project Architect/Manager to discuss scope, schedule, budget, phasing, and issues.
• Estimate discipline man-hours for design requirements.
• Serve as main contact for clients, contractor, and consultants with limited PM input.
• Coordinate with architectural and engineering disciplines; oversee documents and standards.
• Provide ongoing quality control and peer review of documents.
• Set up project budgets and manage scope within time limits.
• Communicate owner revisions and RFIs; support client meetings.
• Assist in representing client interests at hearings; provide client service.
• Mentor and train designers to produce high-quality construction documents.
• Perform additional duties as required.
