Job summary

Jacobs in the United States is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer/SME to lead fire protection design for data center and mission‑critical projects. You will mentor staff, develop standards, and coordinate with clients, AHJs, and multi‑discipline teams to ensure reliable, code‑compliant systems.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license, a bachelor’s in Fire Protection Engineering, 15+ years’ experience, and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• Fifteen+ years of fire protection engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience serving as technical lead or SME.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Fire Protection Engineering Senior Engineer/SME for Data Center and Mission Critical projects.
• Provide technical leadership for fire protection design, code analysis, and life safety engineering.
• Establish project fire protection design criteria, basis of design reports, and technical standards.
• Lead fire protection design reviews and QA/QC across multiple projects.
• Conduct code evaluations using NFPA, IBC, IFC, FM Global, and client standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and support staff; assist with scope, budgets, and schedules.
