Atlantic Constructors, Inc. seeks a Fire Protection Design Manager to oversee design/BIM for new sprinkler projects at our Richmond headquarters. The role involves supervising designers, reviewing drawings and hydraulic calculations, and coordinating with field staff and vendors.

Relocation to Richmond is required; relocation assistance is offered. The position emphasizes NFPA code compliance, shop drawing reviews, and ensuring project profitability while maintaining safety and schedule.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in fire protection designer and/or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
• Prior supervisor/management experience.
• NICET Level II certification preferred but not required.
• Understanding of NFPA and local authorities' jurisdiction requirements.
• Ability to interpret architect drawings/specifications.
• Proficient in Windows-based CAD and related design software.
• Strong negotiation and problem resolution skills, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project management duties for each project and delegate to team members.
• Review design drawings for NFPA code compliance and project specs.
• Review material submittals and hydraulic calculations for compliance.
• Coordinate and review shop drawings with A/E and vendors.
• Lead design team meetings and monitor design hours for profitability.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed and coordinate with field staff.
• Assist FP sales with bid take-offs and coordinate permit processes.
