Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. seeks a Fire Protection Design Manager to oversee design/BIM for new construction sprinkler projects. This role directs project management, NFPA compliance, and coordination with architects, vendors, and field teams.

Located at our Richmond, VA headquarters with relocation required for top candidates; ownership of design quality, schedule adherence, and budget responsibility are essential. Strong leadership and CAD proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in fire protection designer and/or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
• NICET Level II certification (preferred)
• Ability to interpret architect drawings/specifications
• Proficient in Windows-based CAD, AutoCAD design software or other fire protection design software
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Responsible for project management duties for each project and/or delegation to appropriate team member
• Reviews design drawings for compliance with NFPA codes and project specifications
• Reviews material submittals for compliance with NFPA codes and project specifications
• Reviews hydraulic calculations for compliance with NFPA codes and project specifications
• Coordinates with FP service staff for small/day work projects
• Maintains design files and reviews shop drawings with A/E
• Ensures safety and incident reporting procedures are followed
