Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Design Manager to oversee the design and BIM aspects of sprinkler projects in the Richmond, VA area. The role supervises design staff, reviews drawings for NFPA compliance, and coordinates material procurement and field execution.

Responsibilities include project management, review of hydraulic calculations, vendor invoices, and regular department meetings. The position offers strong growth and a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in fire protection designer and/or equivalent
• Prior supervisor/management experience
• Understanding of NFPA and local authorities' jurisdiction requirements
• Ability to interpret architect drawings/specifications
• Proficient in Windows-based CAD, AutoCAD design software or other fire protection design software
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and spatial orientation

Responsibilities

• Manage project duties and delegate to team members
• Review design drawings for NFPA code compliance
• Review material submittals for NFPA compliance
• Review hydraulic calculations for NFPA compliance
• Coordinate material delivery with customer and field superintendent
• Supervise designer tasks and schedules
• Coordinate and review shop drawings with A/E
• Support FP sales team with bid take-off as needed
• Ensure safety procedures are followed and report issues
• Lead department meetings and project reviews
