Job summary

Atlantic Constructors is seeking a Fire Protection Design Manager to oversee design/BIM for new construction sprinkler projects at our Richmond, VA HQ. You will supervise designers, review drawings for NFPA compliance, and coordinate material submittals and shop drawings.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects. Qualified candidates have 5–7 years in fire protection design with supervisory experience; NICET II is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in fire protection design or equivalent
• Previous supervision/management experience
• NICET Level II certification preferred but not required
• Understanding of NFPA and local AHJ requirements
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings and specs
• Proficient with Windows CAD tools (AutoCAD) and similar software
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision and solve problems

Responsibilities

• Oversee project management for each design project and delegate tasks
• Review design drawings for NFPA code compliance and project specs
• Review material submittals and hydraulic calculations for compliance
• Coordinate procurement of material lists and deliveries with field teams
• Supervise designers and ensure adherence to department standards
• Lead kickoff meetings with field crews and coordinate with A/E
• Assist sales with bid takeoffs as needed
• Ensure safety procedures and incident reporting are followed
