Job summary

Henderson Engineers is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to lead complex building systems design, prepare documents, and perform advanced engineering calculations in collaboration with project teams. This role involves mentoring staff, supporting business development, and guiding quality control across projects.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, a strong background in fire protection engineering, and experience with design software such as Revit and Bluebeam Revu.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required; 12 years of relevant experience.
• PE license required; may count toward 1 year of experience.
• Certifications aligned with technical field (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD) preferred.
• FE exam completion preferred.
• Sustainability accreditations (LEED, WELL, etc.) preferred.
• Expert knowledge of design, codes, standards relevant to multiple disciplines; proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu.

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees preparation of design documents, layouts, drawings, schematics and specs.
• Leads project and design efforts from concept through completion.
• Reviews shop drawings for conformance to plans and specs.
• Mentors less experienced designers and engineers; provides technical guidance.
• Directs project staffing and coordinates project delivery and schedules.
• Ensures drawings and reports meet scope, schedule, cost and quality.
