Job summary

Johnson Controls in Houston seeks a skilled Fire Alarm/Access Control Installer to install, program, troubleshoot, and service fire alarm systems, CCTV, and related building systems at customer sites. You will interpret blueprints, configure panels, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

The role requires at least 5 years of commercial fire alarm experience, potential after-hours work, and the ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs. Foreman background and FAL license preferred; NICET II a plus.

Qualifications

Required: At least 5 years of documented experience in commercial fire alarm installation.
Foreman or Lead background preferred for large projects.
FAL license required or equivalent.
Experience reading blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
Experience with hand tools, test equipment, multimeters, digital analyzers, and commissioning devices.
Capable of physical labor up to 50–70 lbs.
Willing to work unusual positions and weekends; travel may be required.
Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug test.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Must obtain and retain necessary licenses per codes.
Basic understanding of network concepts.

Responsibilities

Install, program, troubleshoot, configure, commission, and service fire alarm, CCTV and access control systems at customer sites.
Organize technical resources and ensure efficient task execution.
Read blueprints, diagrams, and specifications; supervise installation to meet specs.
Complete required documentation in a timely manner.
Participate in after-hours service and communicate status with dispatch.
