Job summary

Virtasant is seeking a Cloud Cost Optimization Program Manager to lead enterprise cloud efficiency initiatives across AWS and GCP. You will partner with account teams and engineering to identify savings opportunities and drive cost-reduction programs.

The role requires deep FinOps experience, strong technical program management, and the ability to influence delivery without direct authority. You will report to senior leadership and own governance and reporting cadences.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of professional experience, including leading complex technical programs in large enterprises.
• Strong experience with FinOps, cloud cost optimization, cloud economics, or cloud financial management.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and/or GCP, including cloud infrastructure, pricing, billing, usage, and cost optimization concepts.
• Demonstrated experience driving measurable cloud cost optimization initiatives with engineering or infrastructure teams.
• Strong Technical Program Management experience across complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives.
• Experience partnering with CSPs and managing CSP-related initiatives.
• Ability to work with cloud cost and usage data, with working knowledge of SQL, scripting, data pipelines, and/or data modeling.
• Experience developing financial analyses, forecasts, business cases, savings reporting, and executive communications.
• Proven ability to influence engineering teams and drive delivery without direct management authority.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with senior stakeholders.
• Based in the United States or Canada with Pacific Time overlap.
• US candidates must have authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Identify savings opportunities with AWS/GCP account and technical teams and drive optimization commitments.
• Build and manage a pipeline of cloud cost reduction initiatives across compute, storage, networking, and platform services.
• Scope, prioritize, and track initiatives like rightsizing, commitment optimization, architecture changes, and workload migrations.
• Monitor cloud spend, anomalies, forecasts, and optimization opportunities; identify risks and improvement areas.
• Work with cloud billing, usage, tagging, and allocation data to support cost analysis and savings validation.
• Prepare financial analyses, business cases, forecasts, and savings reports for senior stakeholders.
• Translate complex cloud data into clear recommendations and decision narratives.
• Own recurring cloud cost governance and reporting cadences across engineering and leadership teams.
• Improve tagging, forecasting, cost allocation, savings validation, and optimization tracking processes.
• Manage timelines, dependencies, risks, and deliverables across multiple teams.
• Drive execution through influence and stakeholder relationships.
