Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Austin seeks a Financial Examiner IV to perform complex financial examinations of Medicaid and non-Medicaid cost reports. You will review cost reports, GAAP data, and supporting documents to ensure accuracy in reimbursement methodologies.

The role requires extensive knowledge of accounting standards, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects with initiative. Telework eligibility is available.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial examinations, financial operations, financial analysis, data analysis, budgeting, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, Medicaid reimbursement, and/or cost reporting.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs complex financial examinations of Medicaid and Non-Medicaid costs and compliance reports.
• Manages workload to complete required examinations within deadlines.
• Communicates with contracted providers or cost report preparers to obtain clarifying information or supporting documentation.
• Completes special projects as assigned by the Manager or Director.
