Job summary

nLIGHT is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst for Defense to partner with executive management and drive growth and profitability in a complex manufacturing environment. You will lead reporting, forecasting, and program controls across government contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance while supporting strategic decisions.

The role requires 6+ years in corporate finance or program control, strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, EVMS experience, and ability to manage multiple high-priority projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a Corporate Finance or Program Control organization supporting Government Programs, ideally in a dual-segment manufacturing company.
• Power user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with EVMS, Forecasting, and ERP systems.
• Ability to organize and complete multiple high-priority projects on schedule.
• Advanced problem-solving skills and strong judgement.
• Strong communication skills, including ability to communicate complex information to management.
• Creative and tenacious problem-solver with strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Business Partnering – Support contract proposals and performance. Provide recommendations and develop reporting/processes that improve insight and decision-making.
• Reporting – Develop insightful reports supporting monthly/quarterly/annual results and forecast but also support execution on portfolio of programs.
• Forecasting – Coordinate and prepare rolling forecast and planning scenarios using both traditional FP&A and EVMS tools. Provide guidance and advice to improve forecasting and reporting accuracy, improve results, and identify areas of risk.
• Financial Reporting Support – Review accounting packages to ensure accuracy, provide explanations of trends and variances, and develop reporting that helps provide better organizational understanding of results.
• Compliance Support – Support proposal reviews, annual rate proposals, and reviews/audits with DCAA/DCMA. Partner cross-functionally on issues to ensure FAR compliance, support external audit requirements, and protect sensitive information.
• Lead and participate on departmental, inter-company, and cross-functional teams to improve reporting and processes, which may range between accounting, operations, government contract and/or finance-focus, and require willingness to stretch knowledge and expertise based on the needs of the organization.
